A leading global food distributor is seeking a dynamic and bilingual (Japanese/English) Sales Specialist to join their team near Portland, OR. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills, a passion for sales, and a deep appreciation for Asian food culture. You will play a key role in building and nurturing relationships with clients and vendors, driving sales growth, and identifying market opportunities across the region.
Responsibilities Include:
Client & Account Management
Manage a portfolio of existing and prospective accounts
Serve as the primary liaison for Japanese and English-speaking clients
Handle inquiries, orders, and contract negotiations with professionalism and cultural sensitivity
Sales & Strategy
Develop and execute strategic account plans to expand product offerings and increase market share
Present new products and conduct regular sales performance reviews with stakeholders
Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with supply chain, marketing, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery and product availability
Provide feedback to product development and quality assurance teams based on customer insights
Market Intelligence
Conduct market research on trends, competitor activities, and customer needs
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the regional community
Customer Satisfaction
Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally
Escalate concerns when necessary to maintain high levels of satisfaction
Reporting & Communication
Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and performance reports
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Requirements Include:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field
Minimum 1 year of experience in account management, sales, or customer service (food distribution industry preferred)
Basic knowledge of Asian food products and culture
Fluency in Japanese and English (verbal and written)
Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically and internationally
Willingness to travel up to 50%, including overnight trips
Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, walking, and lifting 10-25 lbs
