About the Role:
We are seeking an
attentive and trustworthy behavioral support person
to work in a private home with a
19-year-old male with nonverbal autism
. The ideal candidate is
passionate about supporting individuals with high-level challenges and complex needs
. They
understand the importance of building rapport
and creating a meaningful connection with the client. The right person can
calmly reinforce routines
while remaining
patient, friendly, and consistent
, and
communicates clearly and professionally
at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide emotional support and encouragement to client to perform necessary tasks.
Provide in-home care and supervision
Assists client with activities of daily living, supporting them in their basic care needs, assisting them to learn self-care and with direct support where required. Assisting them to develop and maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance. Supporting them to make appropriate choices regarding their nutritional needs.
Can help prepare simple meals (pasta, sandwiches, etc).
Follows proper procedures in emergency situations.
Administers medication when necessary.
Must maintain client confidentiality and be willing to sign an NDA.

Ability to follow simple instructions and respond with flexibility if needed.

Listening, analyzing information, and focusing on quality care.
Legal compliance.
Takes personal responsibility for learning about the client and the way autism affects them; for 'listening' to the client; and for reflecting on your own practice to continuously develop your own knowledge and skills.
Physical ability- Candidate will be working with a young man 6ft weighing 160lbs and growing. Non verbal with aggressive outbursts and other behaviors.
Enthusiasm for acting as client's communication and behavioral liaison in educational and public settings
Authentic investment in client's educational success and general well-being
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 4+ year(s) professional or personal experience supporting individuals with nonverbal disabilities and challenging behaviors
Must have a valid in-state driver's license, provide current registration and insurance, and have a driving record with no more than 2 points within the last 3 years.
Willing to have a background check.
Must be over 21 years old

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
