DESCRIPTION:
The YMCA is currently taking application for energetic, confident, and friendly staff to work in the sports department as a Basketball Official. The basketball official is responsible and willing to uphold rules of the game and make accurate calls during the game. The candidate is responsible for calling the game as fairly as possible and will make calls on a deemed needed basis. These decisions should be made quickly and with the best of his/her ability. The officiating skill level will be determined by the YMCA sports staff but a general working knowledge of the sport to be officiated is required of all officials. Pay is starting at $20/game.
Days & Hours
Saturdays
The schedule varies depending on the number of leagues and teams.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent should be able to communicate with players, coaches and parents effectively. Ideal candidate must be energetic, enthusiastic and have the motivation to share that energy with all the sports participants. Candidate should have strong human relation skills and must have great knowledge of basketball whether it is from playing experience, coaching, or previous referee experience. Incumbent must possess a strong understanding of the YMCA and its mission as well as have a strong desire to deliver a quality program to children and families in the community. Must attend complete a background check and athlete protection assignment before the first week of games. Must be 18 years or older. Must be able to submit a resume with related work experience.
