Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient

Barista

to join our cafe team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, excellent customer service skills, and experience in food and beverage preparation. This role involves creating a welcoming environment for customers while preparing high-quality beverages and food items. Prior experience with POS systems and food safety standards is preferred but no necessary. The position offers an engaging work environment where teamwork, attention to detail, and a positive attitude are essential. The pay is hourly plus cash tips.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks according to company standards. Operate POS systems such as Square or Toast Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and addressing inquiries professionally. Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering duties. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe area, including food preparation stations and seating areas. Follow food safety protocols during food handling, preparation, and serving to ensure compliance with health regulations. Assist in food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches or snacks as needed. Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure quick service without compromising quality. Restock supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth daily operations.

Skills

Experience as a Barista or in food service roles within cafes or retail environments is a plus but will train the right individual. Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and beverage presentation standards. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple orders efficiently during peak hours. Basic math skills for cash handling, sales transactions, and retail math calculations. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of food safety standards, proper food handling procedures, and basic food preparation techniques.
