The Avery Bar and Brasserie The Avery Hotel and Brasserie is the redevelopment of a Boise landmark into a 39-room boutique hotel, fine-dining restaurant, intimate bar, and gastropub that combines unique old-world charm with contemporary appeal. The vision for The Avery is driven by an energetic and creative ownership group, including hospitality veteran and acclaimed Chef, Cal Elliott who has achieved exceptional success with his restaurants in New York, including recognition from the New York Times, the Michelin Guide, the Food Network and Travel Channel. Cal and Ashley Elliott, own and operate Boise\xe2\x80\x99s Little Pearl, and their experience as restaurant operators at the highest level is an enormous asset to the ongoing appeal and success of the hotel and restaurant. Located in Boise\xe2\x80\x99s historic Gem Block among some of the city\xe2\x80\x99s most popular shopping, restaurants, and music venues, The Avery Brasserie will draw inspiration from the classic French brasserie, with ambiance that enchants guests and a seasonal menu led by celebrated Michelin-starred Chef Cal Elliott. Tiner\xe2\x80\x99s Alley with its entrance from the alleyway, is an intimate tavern offering classic English fare and libations served across a historic Brunswick bar. A completely unique, service-centric experience with exceptional culinary offerings, The Avery will be a port of call for curious travelers and a sought-after experience for locals. The Position The Bar Manager supports The Avery in management of all bar services by overseeing all aspects of multi-bar service and dining operations. This position supervises and trains bar personnel, while developing programs to increase revenue and job performance. The most essential function of the Bar Manager is to establish the culture and set the tone for an exceptional guest experience. This flows from having a cohesive, well-supported staff who feel empowered to use their talents and who take ownership in the success of the restaurant. The Bar Manager will work closely with the restaurant and hotel management, to ensure The Avery reaches its full potential. Bar Manager Tasks:

  • Leads and models both genuine hospitality and very high standards and thoroughness.
  • Controls profit & loss, by following cash control/security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate corrective actions.
  • Manages a diverse team to achieve excellent service and operational outcomes, including setting clear expectations; inspiring motivation among staff; modeling and establishing excellent communication; and fostering quality and consistency.
  • Effective, calm, problem-solving when conflicts or issues arise with staff, guests, or partners.
  • Maintains customer satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food and beverage service offerings.
  • Identifies operational performance, productivity and efficiency gaps and implements improvements.
  • Collaborates effectively with the restaurant and hotel management teams to maximize revenues, operational efficiencies, and the customer experience for the entire property.
  • Pursues aggressive sales and efficiency goals and motivates the staff toward achieving these goals.
  • Supervises all bar staff by recruiting candidates, recommending for hire, orientating, training, assigning, scheduling, and evaluating performance according to established procedures
  • Assist in the development of the beverage program including but not limited to: cocktail creation, inventory/product control programs, training, and ordering
  • Responsible for overseeing bar dining service during peak hours
  • Represents the property to customers, vendors, other businesses, and the community.
  • Ensures that the restaurant follows the preventative maintenance program with regards to facility, and equipment.
  • Ensures a safe working and customer experience environment by facilitating safe work behaviors of the team.
  • Implements and complies with all company policies and standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all laws, codes, and any license requirements.
Basic Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3+ years of bartending experience
  • Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits with the ability to create craft cocktails
  • Strong understanding of cost and labor systems that lead to restaurant profitability
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
