Position Summary:

Sugarbush Resort is seeking a Banquet Captain to assist in overseeing banquet staff and coordinating banquet functions. Ensure quality, guest satisfaction and service standards are upheld. Lead and train banquet staff and provide direction during events.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure banquet rooms, restaurants and events are ready for service.
• Assist with dining area and buffet line set up as needed.
• Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all tableware, glassware, and silver prior to use.
• Ensure the timing and flow of service is correctly paced according to the BEO.
• Communicates with waitstaff, cooks, and Banquet Manager about guest needs, business levels as needed.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings with banquet staff and go over any changes and important information from BEO.
• Attend weekly BEO meetings.
• Work closely and assist Banquet Manager with all staff training.
• Responsible for accurately ringing in all F&B charges according to the Banquet Check into RTP at the end of the event and note all gratuities in the Banquets Gratuity Notebook.
• Maintain communication with the sales team during events to be able to accurately update BOH and FOH staff of any changes to the timeline set on the BEO.
• Keep the chefs and managers informed of any issues that might affect quality of service or timing.
• Guide and direct servers to properly serve meals in a timely manner.
• Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
• Bus tables, carry plates, glasses to bus station or dish station when needed.
• Ensure proper cleanup is being executed at the end of every event.
• Exhibit strong menu, beverage, and wine knowledge.
• Adhere to all state liquor laws and state health regulations.
• Perform duties of Banquet Servers and Banquet Bartenders as needed during the event.

Qualifications:

• Effective communication skills, oral & written.
• Strong sense of customer service & safety awareness.
• Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Have a neat & clean appearance in compliance with the company grooming standards.
• Punctual, able to report at scheduled start time.
• Work well as part of a team.
• Able to remain patient, calm, and composed in a fast paced, high volume demanding environment.
• Able to multi-task and handle high volume service demands.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years serving experience.
• One-year supervisory experience.

Preferred:

• Knowledge and familiarity with Sugarbush Resort
• Experience in Banquet Service.
• Experience reading and following BEOs.
