Job Description

The Bakery Associate is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting a variety of fresh bakery items--including breads, donuts, cakes, muffins, cookies, and seasonal specialties--in a farm market-style bakery. This role combines hands-on baking skills with exceptional customer service to provide a warm, inviting shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Baking & Preparation

Mix, shape, proof, and bake breads, rolls, donuts, muffins, cakes, and other pastries according to recipes and seasonal offerings. Prepare icings, glazes, and fillings, and decorate baked goods as needed. Monitor ovens and baking equipment to ensure proper baking times and quality. Follow portion and weight guidelines for consistent product size and presentation.

Product Quality & Freshness

Check products regularly to ensure freshness, proper appearance, and high quality. Rotate stock and follow "first in, first out" (FIFO) procedures to minimize waste. Maintain clear labeling of items, including allergen and ingredient information when required. Package and label products neatly for sale.

Cleanliness & Safety

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area, including utensils, counters, and display cases. Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper storage, temperature control, and hygiene practices. Safely operate baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, proofers, and fryers.

Teamwork & Operations

Help stock bakery displays and keep cases filled and visually appealing throughout the day. Communicate with management about low inventory or supply needs. Assist in seasonal bakery events or special orders.

Qualifications:

Previous baking or food preparation experience preferred, but willing to train motivated candidates. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Schedule:

Early morning and weekend availability required.

Work Environment:

This position takes place in a warm, busy bakery within a farm market setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
