Job Overview:

Ugly Dumpling is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic BOH Team Members to join our innovative Bao Lab at our Austin, TX location! This team member will play a crucial role in preparing and crafting our signature bao offerings, ensuring high-quality standards and supporting kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities:

Preparation & Production:

Assist in the preparation and production of bao dough, fillings, and other ingredients according to recipe specifications and standards.

Assembly & Cooking:

Skillfully assemble, steam, and cook baos with attention to consistency, portioning, and quality presentation.

Ingredient Handling:

Wash, chop, and measure ingredients accurately, following food safety guidelines.

Inventory Management:

Maintain organized stock levels and help with daily inventory checks; report low stock items to kitchen supervisors.

Kitchen Maintenance:

Keep workstations clean, sanitized, and organized; follow all sanitation and food safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Equipment Use:

Operate specialized kitchen equipment for bao preparation, including steamers, mixers, and other cooking tools; report any maintenance needs.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other BOH team members and FOH (Front of House) staff to ensure smooth service during peak hours.

Continuous Improvement:

Participate in recipe testing and process refinement to improve quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume kitchen or restaurant setting, ideally in an Asian cuisine or specialty bao-making environment. Skills: Strong knife skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with steaming and dough preparation processes. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment. Team Player: Cooperative, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support others in a collaborative team setting. Flexibility: Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
