We are seeking a skilled Awning Fabricator to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding processes, design and fabrication. This role is essential in ensuring that our products meet high-quality standards and are produced to design specifications. The Awning Fabricator will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, operating welding machines and utilizing hand tools to create beautiful fixed frame awnings.

Duties

Weld and fabricate aluminum and steel to fabricate custom awnings and other metal structures. Read and understand welding symbols, blueprints, and/or CAD drawings to determine welding requirements and design. Setup welding machines based on specific project design and parameters. Select appropriate welding tools, materials and technics to ensure stability and strength. Weld awning projects using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (flat, vertical and overhead). Use metal bender for appropriate awning designs. Apply techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, or Flux-Cored Arc welding (FCAW). Examine welds for quality and conformance to specifications using visual and testing inspection methods and make any adjustments as necessary prior to project completion. Work closely with Operations Manager, Production Manager, Awning Technical Designer and Sewer to manufacture awnings to specifications. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used and time spent on projects. Select appropriate materials needed for each project and notify manufacturing team of materials needed for each job and assist with inventory tracking. Inspect awning service projects to determine where repairs are needed. Troubleshoot and maintain welding equipment and accessories. Communicate and collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure projects are ready for assembly. Attend weekly manufacturing meetings with the team. Follow all safety protocols, including wearing protective gear and ensuring proper ventilation. Maintain a clean and hazard free working environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of welding and welding equipment. Ability to use a welding machine with precision and determine appropriate materials for the job. Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings. Knowledge of different alloys and understanding the effects of heat on metal properties and how to control them during welding. Skill in ensuring accuracy in measurements, welds, and adherence to specifications. Ability to measure and read a tape measure. Strong math skills. Capability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, or lying down. Knowledge of awning and structural design. Familiarity with safety regulations and practices related to welding, including OSHA standards. Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Knowledge of structure and content of English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Ability to meet strict deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team. Punctual attendance. Excellent communication skills and professionalism OCA team and leadership.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent. 3-5 Years of Welding Experience in structural applications. General understanding of awning shapes and design. General understanding of CAD drawings and technical measuring.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
