Assistant Vice President, Surgical and Interventional Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs all operational aspects of Surgical and Interventional Services. This includes oversight of strategic planning, ensuring high quality care, optimizing service excellence and executing strategic priorities.
  • Collaborates with the VP, Business and Service Line Development to develop and convey vision and strategy for growth of Surgical and Interventional Services. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical operations as well as ensuring the professional development of all staff.
  • Inherent in this role is the necessity for strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit that engenders trusts, attracts talent and drives innovation.
  • The role combines clinical process knowledge with technical and analytical expertise to empower decision makers in to grow, improve and streamline operational processes and clinical effectiveness.
  • The role collaborates with key stakeholders and interdisciplinary teams to create a learning environment that supports innovation, enlightened thinking and the ability to execute results.
  • Oversees diverse array of administrative functions, including special projects, day-to-day operations, and implementation of key strategic operational imperatives.
  • Serves as business advisor to PMPH senior leadership regarding Surgical and Interventional Services.
  • Works in close partnership with the Department Chairs and Medical Directors of Surgical and Interventional Services and with the various clinical departments to facilitate and execute decisions across the entire service line.
  • Drives, collaborates and develops an approach to marketing Surgical and Interventional Services with the marketing department.
  • Develops, monitors, and recommends annual operating budget to include short- and long-term capital expenditures.
  • Coordinates departmental functions and activities to achieve objectives and maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for the entire service line.
  • Creates and builds a collaborative/team environment across the entire Surgical and Interventional Services continuum that supports top decile in customer/patient satisfaction as well as staff satisfaction goals through monitoring, developing, and implementation of measurement systems for service standards.
OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures safety standards are met; empowers and promotes patient, staff and community education; facilitates acquisition of equipment and supplies needed to provide services.
  • Ensures appropriate staff orientation, education and licensure to perform required functions. Defines required qualifications and competence for staff who provide care, treatment and services.
  • Oversees performance improvement activities. Plans and manages processes to measure, assess and improve clinical and support activities. Monitors compliance with national oncology quality improvement indicators and coordinates performance improvement activities for non-compliant areas.
  • Maintains professional growth and development of self and surgical and interventional services management and staff through professional affiliations and educational activities. Serves as a professional role model and mentor in leadership skill development, problem solving, intentional innovation, coaching guidance, risk taking behavior, and interpersonal skills to motivate, attract, recruit, and retain staff.
Credentials:

Current RN license required (New Jersey).

Strong Perioperative Service Experience preferred.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Education:
  • Master\'s Degree required.
Related Work Experience:
  • At least 8 years\' experience required.
Specialized Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years\' progressive leadership experience in a clinical setting with at least seven years\' procedure-based experience.
  • Strong strategic planning, financial management, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of information technology and management information systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
