Job Title: Automation Technician Supervisor

Department: Management

Reports To: Director of Continuous Improvement

Position Type: Full Time Exempt

Purpose of Position * To provide mechanical, electrical, and controls support for automated equipment across all company facilities.

  • To create training guides and classes for automation cells and robotics for operations and maintenance team members.
  • To install new automated equipment in company facilities.

Position Competency * The ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • The ability to read and understand electrical and controls diagrams.
  • The ability to connect to and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, Robotic Arms, AMRs and other automation components.
  • Knowledge of automation instrumentation.
  • The ability to have creative problem-solving skills to implement system fixes and upgrades.
  • The ability to learn new systems and attend training
Position Expectations

Automation Innovation and Management * 2-4 years related experience with industrial automation equipment.
  • Develop and lead training programs for automation cells and robotics for operations and maintenance team members.
  • Monitor and evaluate equipment performance by developing and executing time studies.
  • Evaluate prototype / trial equipment runs and reports performance.
  • Propose and implement OEE improving upgrades to equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management about work completed and changes made.
  • Organize and maintain system documentation.
  • Develop and oversee PM schedules for all automation and robotics cells.
Automation Mechanical Skills * Responsible for troubleshooting automated / robotic equipment issues and repairing them in a timely manner.
  • Ensure procurement of spare parts and necessary items to maintain equipment.
  • Install and commission new automated equipment in company facilities and co-ordinate with maintenance teams.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, mchanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings.
  • Maintain work orders on a daily and weekly basis
