The Automatic Door Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial automatic door systems and related hardware. This includes sliding, swinging, revolving, and specialty door systems used in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. The technician ensures all equipment operates safely, reliably, and in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional on-site customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
? Diagnose and repair automatic door systems, including mechanical components, sensors, motors, control boards, operators, and access control integrations.
? Perform preventative maintenance on all types of commercial automatic door and hardware systems.
? Install replacement door operators, components, and complete automatic door packages as needed.
? Document all service activities, including parts used, work performed, maintenance findings, and service recommendations.
? Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair needs, safety concerns, timelines, and recommended solutions.
? Maintain, organize, and manage tools, parts, and equipment on service vehicles and job sites.
? Safely disassemble, remove, replace, and adjust components for repair or maintenance.
? Test and verify door system functionality to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards.
? Follow all company and job-site safety procedures; report unsafe conditions immediately.
? Participate in on-call rotations for emergency or after-hours service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
? Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs/ladders, and work at various heights throughout the day.
? Ability to crouch, kneel, crawl, and use hands with precision for mechanical and electrical work.
? Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for short distances.
? Work may be performed in indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures.
