Under general supervision, supervises a moderate sized group of repair workers and others in the maintenance or repair of automotive and other related equipment.
Examples of Duties

Supervise the work of a moderate sized group of repair workers, helpers, and others engaged in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of automotive and other gasoline-operated equipment including trucks, passenger vehicles, and other construction equipment.
Assign work and provide instructions relative to work orders and repair work.
Inspect repair work in process and upon completion.
Assign subordinates to maintain and repair units and parts in pumps involving tasks such as tightening pump rods, re-facing pump seats, fitting keys in pump impellers, grinding valves, and checking bearing adjustments in pump barrel.
Ensure that required parts are available.
Review records prepared by subordinates.
Prepare requisitions for supplies, materials, and parts.
Maintain records such as employee schedules, lubrication of automotive equipment, and duties performed and generates reports thereon.
Perform tests on equipment before and after repairing to determine operating condition.
Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications (Required):
High School graduation or GED with successful completion of coursework in shop and auto repair work.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in assembling, repairing, and maintaining light duty, heavy duty, or other automotive equipment.
Qualifications (Preferred):
Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
