Typical Day in the Life
A typical day as an Audit Consulting Manager - Affordable Housing in Fargo, ND might include the following:

  • Work with a client during the planning stage of an affordable housing project. Answer questions on their structure, tax credit application, financial projections for the project and various types of options for financing.
  • Work with the client through their 10% carryover, if required. Understand what is eligible and consult on meeting the test.
  • Calculate the 50% bond test for a bond deal.
  • Review the final cost certification. Have an understanding of the various state rules and what is eligible and ineligible basis. Be familiar with the various types of projects including new construction, rehabilitation projects and occupied rehabilitation projects.
  • Consult with a client on what is the best year to begin credits and how to structure a deal with buildings being placed into service in multiple tax years.
  • Incorporate a cost segregation study into a cost certification and have an understanding of the rules and impact of energy credits.
  • Review the Form(s) 8609 for a project.
  • Complete a first year credit calculation for both new construction deals and occupied rehabilitation projects.
  • Attend training seminars, professional development and networking events.
Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future. Qualifications:
Who You Are
  • You are inquisitive and enjoy learning about various client business processes and traveling to different locations to help clients (10-15 percent travel is expected).
  • You are motivated to learn and are looking to get promoted throughout your career.
  • You like the challenge of learning new engagements and providing constructive feedback to other team members.
  • You are a multi-tasking master, and there has never been a deadline you could not meet.
  • You have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with all levels of Firm management and staff, clients and other external business contacts.
  • You have knowledge of and exposure to the affordable housing industry through both tax and audit
  • You are a team player and love collaborating with others over sitting in a cube working alone.
  • You hold yourself to the highest professional standards and maintain strict client confidentiality.
  • In addition to all of this, you have a Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, have an active CPA license, and have 3-7 years of experience in public accounting audit work in the Affordable Housing industry.
