The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer seeks applications and nominations of highly qualified individuals for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs. The Associate Vice Chancellor is a key member of the Executive Vice Chancellor\'s leadership team and provides leadership on activities, initiatives, and policies that support faculty careers, enhance faculty productivity, recognize faculty excellence, cultivate academic leadership, promote an inclusive campus climate, and define faculty rights and responsibilities on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. Through collaboration and partnership with the colleges and departments, the Associate Vice Chancellor advances the university\'s strategic goals, including leadership and coordination on recruitment and hiring; orientation and faculty development; promotion and tenure; faculty appointments; and professorships, awards, and recognition. The Associate Vice Chancellor provides support to deans, chairs, heads, and directors through consultation on faculty personnel and policy issues, and facilitates the resolution of academic and professional conduct concerns. The Associate Vice Chancellor leads efforts to enhance faculty excellence and morale by assessing campus needs and developing new initiatives. The Associate Vice Chancellor also facilitates program improvement processes through Academic Program Reviews in collaboration with departments and college deans\' offices.

The Associate Vice Chancellor leads the campus Department Executive Officers group, facilitates the Faculty Affairs College Liaisons group, and coordinates faculty leadership programming such as the Big Ten Academic Alliance Deans Leadership Program, Department Executive Officers Program, and Academic Leadership Program, as well as other university- and campus-based programs. In collaboration with IANR, the position oversees Faculty Ombuds Services. This position also serves on campus-wide and system-wide committees and advisory groups related to supporting faculty.

This is a 12-month position.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess an earned terminal degree appropriate to their discipline and hold an appointment as a tenured full professor at UNL with a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching and service.
  • Successful candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, previous academic administrative or leadership experience, and the demonstrated ability to work with faculty from varied disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Candidates must have the ability to effectively and creatively complete complex assignments while maintaining cooperative partnerships.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a broad range of academic administrative issues including execution of university policy and matters related to faculty appointments (faculty hiring, conduct, leaves and other faculty human resource issues) is required.
