We are looking for a Business Development Associate to help grow Cicero \xe2\x80\x94the sole purpose of this position is to find and support the closing new business. This role will work closely with Cicero\xe2\x80\x99s senior leadership team within the Private Equity business unit, and involves identifying new client opportunities, articulating the value that Cicero can provide to potential new clients, enhancing the firm\xe2\x80\x99s reputation, developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue, and selling Cicero products and services.

Key Responsibilities * New Business Development

  • Use business resources to identify target private equity funds and generate top prospecting opportunities
  • Identify key stakeholders to build relationships with, including clients, partners, and industry leaders in the private equity space
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and other networking opportunities
  • Draft emails, scripts for phone calls, and LinkedIn messages for Partners, Principals and Engagement Managers to conduct outreach and secure introductory/follow-up meetings for new clients or projects
  • Collaborate with project leaders to develop proposals, contracts, and presentations for prospective clients
  • Assist in marketing and public relations initiatives to increase visibility and build Cicero\xe2\x80\x99s brand
  • Optimize Cicero\xe2\x80\x99s CRM system (HubSpot) by keeping track of outreach, updating contacts, and ensuring all contacts are mapped correctly
  • Customer Acquisition
  • Work with Cicero\xe2\x80\x99s leadership to develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to win new business and grow existing accounts
  • Attend introductory meetings and project kick-offs to understand key client needs
  • Assist with nurturing the entire sales funnel from lead development to closing
  • Identify opportunities and manage the logistics of sales pitches to convert new business opportunities into revenue
  • Maintain relationships with clients and collaborate with Cicero teams to identify additional opportunities
  • Strategic Planning and Sales Management
  • Track and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry best practices to inform business development strategies
  • Support the execution of Cicero\xe2\x80\x99s development strategy by optimizing Cicero\xe2\x80\x99s CRM system
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on sales and business development activities
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the business development initiatives and make adjustments as necessary to achieve the desired results
This role will work closely with the Partners and Principals, and will report directly to the Chief Finance Officer.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of successful business development, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the consulting industry and private equity.

Required
  • 2-4 years in management/strategy consulting or other professional services similar to a consulting role
  • 3+ years of demonstrated success in a business development/sales role
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business, marketing, finance or a related field
  • Strong capabilities in PowerPoint and Excel, with aptitude for learning
  • Excellent strategic thinking skills, with the ability to analyze data, and develop and execute effective business strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate and present ideas
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a multitude of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and make informed decisions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to find creative solutions to complex business challenges
  • A deep understanding of how to execute a variety of private equity services such pre-deal analysis, post-deal strategy, portfolio company transformation, portfolio company operation excellence, and exit planning,

  • An established network of business development connections
  • A true \xe2\x80\x9cself-starter\xe2\x80\x9d who loves building relationships and thriving in a sales-focused environment
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and strategies
  • Familiarity and experience with CRM platforms (HubSpot) a plus
  • A customer-focused mindset and approach, with the ability to understand customer needs and develop solutions to meet their needs
We are open to this role operating from our Salt Lake City, Utah or Washington D.C. office. We are open to discussing a remote option.
