Position Summary

As an Associate Director Translational Medicine Lead, you\'ll play an important role in designing, executing and analyzing biomarker data from Horizon interventional clinical trial and observational academic collaborations to deliver scientific insights on our molecules. As the Translational Medicine representative on cross-functional drug development teams for late clinical stage molecules you are responsible for bringing the scientific insights into pharmacodynamics and target engagement, mechanism of action and responder populations for our portfolio of immunomodulating molecules.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute translational strategies to achieve project-specific goals and objectives for investigational therapeutics in clinical development.
  • Represent the Translational Medicine function in cross-functional drug development teams.
  • Work within a matrixed, cross functional team to provide end to end oversight of biomarker sample collection, testing and analysis.
  • Initiate and oversee contracting and sample analysis with CROs to execute biomarker testing plans.
  • Track budgets and deliverables.
  • Establish fit for purpose biomarker assays internally or with third party vendors.
  • Evaluate new technologies and assay platforms for clinical biomarker use.
  • Guide data analyses in collaboration with Biometrics and Quantitative Biology colleagues to deliver informative analyses to support internal decision making, regulatory interactions and publications/abstracts.
  • Collaborate with Research and Commercial and Medical Affairs to provide scientific input into new disease indications under consideration
  • Collaborate with academics to initiate and carry out Ph0 studies or collaborations to generate disease relevant biomarker data and insights into biomarker defined patient subgroups and endotypes.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • PhD in immunology or relevant scientific discipline; minimum PhD +7-10year (or BSc + 15 year, MSc +13 year)
  • A calling to develop new therapies for patients with inflammatory diseases.
  • A broad understanding of cellular and molecular pharmacology concepts within the autoimmunity and/or immunology field is essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing and competing priorities and ambiguity.
  • Prior experience with clinical trials preferred but not essential
  • Hands on experience with clinical assays and assay development
  • Familiarity with a variety of biomarker assay platforms
  • Establish fit for purpose biomarker assays internally or with third party vendors
  • Willingness to perform lab work when necessary
  • Prior experience analyzing big data
  • Detailed orientated approach
