Position Focus:
Reporting to the Director of Events, the Associate Director, Events, participates in the leadership of the Office of Development\xe2\x80\x99s Events team and collaborates closely with the Director on the development and execution of top-quality events and donor engagement initiatives that support Yale\xe2\x80\x99s fundraising efforts, advance its mission, and strengthen the relationship between the university and its global community of benefactors, volunteers, and alumni. Possesses the ability to work independently and with limited oversight. Serve as a role model for the rest of the Events team; promote a positive culture of respect, inclusion, and common purpose. The Associate Director, Events, provides strategic oversight, program development, managerial supervision of one C&T employee, communication planning, and logistical expertise in the production of memorable experiences (in-person, virtual, and hybrid), including multi-component events, high-level donor recognition celebrations, large-scale campaign events, and advisory board meetings. Directly supervises a Senior Administrative Assistant (SAA) and oversees the hiring, training, workflow, and evaluation of this team member, aligning the SAA\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives with the overall mission and values of the Events team, the Office of Development, and the university. Serves as the primary liaison to the Campaign & Volunteer Engagement team in the strategic planning and execution of activities relating to the For Humanity Campaign Committee, Campaign Ambassadors, regional advisory groups, and campaign task forces. This will include overall management of 2 meetings of the campaign committee per year, in addition to supporting smaller in-person and virtual events throughout the year. Plans and execute other strategic events\xe2\x80\x94including but not limited to regional For Humanity Illuminated events, large-scale dedication events, and high-level advisory board meetings\xe2\x80\x94as assigned throughout the year. Utilizes virtual event technology to produce successful digital engagement opportunities for Yale\xe2\x80\x99s alumni, donors, parents, and friends. Oversees the refinement and implementation of a process for compiling, analyzing, visualizing, and packaging event-related data and metrics for distribution/communication to a variety of internal (and sometimes external) stakeholders. Serves as the primary liaison with frontline Development staff on the strategic planning and execution of a series of events relating to Innovation at Yale.

Essential Duties
1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources related to donor cultivation and recognition, broad constituent engagement, committee and council meetings, and other major events for the Office of Development. 2. Directs and implements event management solutions that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple internal and external constituencies. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning major development events that align with university fundraising goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent development event policies in alignment with university financial, budget, confidential information, vendor management, and other policies. 5. Ensures that all events are executed in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for self and staff in compliance with university strategies. 7. Directs a staff of program coordinators. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and five or more years of event management experience in a professional setting or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Experience managing events within higher education. Knowledge of database management systems and event planning software, particularly Blackbaud CRM, FileMaker, Social Tables, Cvent, Zoom, Workday. Knowledge of Yale University.
