Hunting Island is South Carolina's single most popular state park, attracting more than a million visitors a year, as well as a vast array of land and marine wildlife. Five miles of pristine South Carolina beaches, thousands of acres of marsh and maritime forest, a saltwater lagoon and ocean inlet are all part of the park's natural allure.



Job Purpose and Duties:



Under general supervision of the Retail Manager oversees all retail operations, staff, and facilities for Hunting Island State Park. Assists with retail purchases and inventories for St Phillips Island.



1) Under the management of Hunting Island Retail Manager Employee will supervise retail outlets and related facilities.

2) Under the Retail Manager Employee will supervise and participates in the preparation of the park's fiscal records to include weekly operational reports as well as monthly and yearly operational summaries.

3) Manages the human resources of the retail outlets including supervision, delegation of responsibilities and completion of performance appraisals.

4) Ensures that established policies, procedures and guidelines are followed in the collection and accounting of all revenues associated with retail outlets.

5) Directs requestioning, storage, and distribution of forms, supplies, and equipment.

6) Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.



Minimum and Additional Requirements

1) Associate degree in Business or public administration and two (2) years experience in retail sales management.

2) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials, used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.

3) Ability to deal tactfully and cordially with the public and to communicate effectively. Works with various office equipment such as computers, calculators, typewriters, cash registers, etc.

4) Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
