American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred, not required

Job Standards
Ability to deliver a high level of customer service manner; ; able to effectively communicate such information to members and guests
Knowledge of the aquatic programs, procedures, policies, and general information
Essential Job Functions
Acting manager of swim instructors and lifeguards when Pool Director is not on duty
Assist with recruitment and training of lifeguard staff
Evaluation supervision; prepped and finalized one week before final group lesson for session
Assist with management of swim lessons
Update private lesson availability spreadsheet on a biweekly basis
Update pool rental attendance forms as needed
Assist with checking all swim students out of Mindbody
Ensure all Lifeguards are completing on deck duties
Monthly inventory of all pool equipment and supplies
Gather Lifeguard availability and enter approved shifts into Mindbody
Attend monthly staff meetings
Prepare info for meetings requested by PD
Responsible for creating and implementing training during one monthly staff meeting per quarter
Teach 15 hours of swim lessons; combination of group and private
Instill attention to safety among lifeguards, as well as pool members and guests
Enforce safety policies and rules among lifeguards, members, and guests
Administer First Aid, CPR, and other emergency and safety procedures, as needed
Non-Essential Functions
Assist with daily maintenance of the pool
Assist PD with Lifeguard chemical analysis
Attend community outreach events as needed
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Ability to speak clearly and be understood.
Able to hear normal sounds within some background of noise as in answering the phone, intercom, etc.
Visual acuity to see computer and read printed documents.
Ability to concentrate on fine details with interruptions.
Ability to attend to tasks/functions for more than 60 minutes at a time.
Ability to understand and relate to the reasons behind several related concepts.
Ability to remember multiple tasks /assignments given to self and others over long periods of time.
Ability to perform gross body coordination such as walking, stooping, filing, etc.
Ability to perform tasks which require hand eye coordination such as keyboard skills, writing or picking up paper.
Ability to communicate with guests and staff in a professional manner
Knowledge of the aquatic programs, procedures, policies, and general information; able to effectively communicate such information to members and guests
Ability to identify specific sounds such as cries for help and splashing
Ability to lift up to fifty (50) lbs.
Environmental Conditions
Rare exposure to blood, body tissue or fluids.
Possible exposure to high/low temperatures.
