Job Description


Overview:
The Assistant Media Relations Coordinator (Public Relations Spec I) serves as a member of the Utah State Athletic Media Relations team. The successful candidate will serve as the primary media contact for women\xe2\x80\x99s basketball, volleyball and softball, as well as assisting with other assigned duties. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Responsibilities:

  • Manages all athletic communications department operations for women\xe2\x80\x99s basketball, volleyball, softball and other assigned sports.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement comprehensive public relations and communications strategy and plans for assigned sports, including a focused social media plan.
  • Work with creative content team to create digital and multimedia content for social media.
  • Customize social media graphics for assigned sports.
  • Tabulates official statistics for assigned sports with the use of NCAA Genius Live Stats and StatCrew.
  • Builds relationships with and pitches stories to local, regional and national media.
  • Attends athletic events of assigned sports (home and away) as required.
  • Supervises student workers and other staff (announcers, videographers, photographers, etc.) during home events.
  • Maintains historical records and statistics for assigned sports.
  • Manages award nomination/selection processes for assigned sports.
  • Produces media guides and other publications for assigned sports.
  • Assists in maintaining official USU Athletics accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube in addition to website.
  • Maintains positive working atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with coaches, students-athletes, staff and co-workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with minimum one-year experience in collegiate athletic media relations or a related field.
  • Candidate must have the ability to meet short deadlines, work evenings and weekends, and be able to travel with designated teams when required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong writing, editing and design (print and web) skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in NCAA Genius Live Stats and StatCrew.
  • Proficiency in Sidearm website technology.
  • Working knowledge of web site management and multimedia production.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with coaches, student-athletes, staff, fans and alumni.
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead projects.

Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
