We are currently seeking a Cook to join our passionate dining team. This is an entry level position.

The Cook prepares all hot food items for patients in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living in accordance with daily select menu and spreadsheets as required by state and departmental guidelines; and for the Main Dining Room, room service and catered events.

A few key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and portions all hot food for daily select menus, which include special diets (puree, dysphagia mechanical, dysphagia advanced, low sodium, calorie control, and diabetic diets) based on state and departmental guidelines.
  • Prepares food items such as stocks, soups, sauces, meats/fish, vegetables, starches and some cold foods.
  • Opens and closes tray line operations in a timely fashion during meal periods.
  • Consistently follows food quality and portion size guidelines; immediately reports any insufficient, improper or poor quality products to immediate Supervisor.
  • Works cooperatively with staff.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and sanitary kitchen, including all refrigerated and dry storage areas.
  • Assists the next shift\xe2\x80\x99s cook and pantry staff with any necessary prep work.
  • Assists with checking in and properly storing incoming food supply orders promptly and in accordance with state and departmental guidelines.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor, Lead Cook or Executive Chef.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be organized, flexible, and work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Knowledge of the safe use of knives, all commercial kitchen equipment, commercial dish machine, cleaning/sanitizing equipment.
  • Ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships with others throughout the facility.
  • Education and Other Qualifications:
  • Some experience as a professional cook in restaurant/hotel/hospital preferred but not required
