Operate matchbook assembly machine to produce finished product meeting quality standards.
Essential Job Functions
Inspect work area prior to starting machine to be sure work area is clean and free of hazards
Inspect machine prior to starting to make sure machine is free of hazards, tools, lockout/tagout
Turn machine on & make sure you have paper and trays
Gather strips from match strip conveyor belt into fist size row
Manually feed strips onto feed tray
Monitor strips, covers, and trays to ensure they meet quality standards
Scan assembled matchbooks looking for quality attributes: margin, stitch, cover closed, cover denting, strip "tails"
Turn off machine and notify mechanic if product does not meet quality standards
Pack match strips into boxes from opposite side of belt if assembly machine is turned off for maintenance or repair
Every reel change, blow off machine using air hose to dislodge paper dust and grease
Every reel change stretch neck, arms, shoulders, and change position (stand or sit) momentarily for ergonomic reasons
Place rejected match strips into strip bucket
Sweep floor and blow off machine after break
Rotate with other jobs as directed by shift supervisor
Requirements
Basic reading, writing and math skills typically acquired with high school diploma
Manual dexterity to handle match strips and feed tray
Agility to reach for strips on conveyor belt, and reach to unstick trays in chute
When going on break, shut off main power and air supply to machine.
When moving to another machine, shut off main power and air supply to machine you are not using.
Keep machine guards in proper position while machine is running.
