Axiom Studio The Axiom Studio, at NE 6th and Davis is a multidisciplinary team of creatives responsible for delivering extraordinary design solutions for retail marketing, brand activations, permanent environments, fixtures, and more. As designs are brought to life, the Studio team works in tandem with our fabrication facility in NE Portland to build exceptionally creative and feasible solutions. The Role Art Director (AD) at Axiom is a lead position that directs multiple clients simultaneously while assisting the Creative Director (CD) in overseeing and mentoring staff. They establish the conceptual and stylistic direction for design staff and orchestrate their work, as well as the work of production artists, photographers, illustrators, printers, and other partners in the development of our experiential, retail, and environmental projects. They collaborate with account, studio and production teams, and help select vendors to ensure the success of creative projects. The AD concepts and executes design solutions from visualization to execution/installation. They embrace challenges and are self-motivated. They are responsible at the project level for delegating, project presentation, creative thinking, innovative design, storytelling, research, and quality control. You With a passion for all things design, you are a leader that owns projects, maintains creative standards, and manages aggressive timelines. Your experience managing teams of designers from concept to execution allows you to collaborate with in-house teams and outside vendors to ensure design vision is executed in an impactful and consistent manner. You have a knack for understanding target audience needs and design trends, while balancing Axiom brand parameters and production limitations. Through brand research, you identify, incorporate and compliment a brand\xe2\x80\x99s ethos into executable creative proposals. Your exceptional writing and narrative abilities assist in the development of inspirational design presentations. Utilizing sketching and rapid visualization tools, you can convey concepts quickly. An understanding of and/or experience with building materials, fabrication processes, tools, and graphic production allows you to be comfortable leading internal and external meetings. As a role-model to other designers and a representative of Axiom in the design community, you\xe2\x80\x99re keen to research and explore current design, art, sculpture, and technology to further develop design skills and sensibility. You push design standards by experimenting with new processes for designing and presenting. You are able to jump on problem solving situations and stay in tune with studio team performance. You oversee the creative output of designers, providing clear direction and critiques on the creative development and execution of projects. In the end, you are able to synthesize client feedback in a productive and positive way and communicate quickly and constructively to both internal and external partners, finding a path to success for all. Tools Fluency with 3D modeling and rendering tools: SketchUp, Rhino, V-RAY and/or 3ds Max, as well as Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with Apple Keynote and other dynamic presentation tools. Experience Experience in retail, architectural, experiential, product, and/or theatrical design. Not needed, but a plus, physical shop and manufacturing experience.
