General Summary: The Area Sales Representative is responsible for nurturing customer relationships, identifying and following up on leads, establishing rapport with current and potential customers and acting as a liaison between assigned customers. The Areas Sales Representative\xe2\x80\x99s primary focus will be gaining new business through lead generation and referrals with a secondary focus on maintaining relationships with their customer base. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Selling Fleet Management products to automotive and diesel fleets
  • Duties include making consistent sales calls on a specific area of responsibility and customer base
  • Increase market share of assigned territory through developing new business opportunities and maximizing sales potential of existing customers
  • Implement our fleet management programs and extend the fuel products to customers and prospects
  • Organize sales territory and maintain regular call cycle
  • Review and track sales volumes and report field activities to management on a weekly basis
  • Coordinate between customers, customer service center, and operations to improve customer/company relations
  • Conduct presentations on Fleet Management program to prospective customers
  • Train new customers on the use of the Fleet Management program
  • Achieve or exceed targeted monthly sales goals for targeted region
  • Preparing various reports and performing administrative duties
  • Generate leads by cold calling, gaining referrals, and making sales calls within assigned territory
  • Strategic planning and aggressive marketing
  • Relationship building and account management
  • Increase market share and customer retention
  • Foster and maintain relationships with assigned client base by establishing rapport and building trust.
  • Participate in research to help resolve product and service issues
  • Act as a partner to your customers by understanding their needs, suggesting solutions, and following up on problems.
  • Follow up on online, call in, and referred leads. Ensure all efforts are recorded in company CRM.
  • Review and track sales volumes and report field activities to management on a weekly basis.
  • Travel throughout an assigned territory to assist in calling on regular and prospective customers
  • Prepare sales contracts, prices quotes, and credit applications for customers. Effectively present information to customers in order to close the deal.
  • Ethically and professionally represent The McPherson Companies, our products and programs to customers and prospects.
Position Requirements:
  • 5 years plus outside sales experience, excellent communication and organizational skills and solid closing skills
  • Bachelors Degree preferred or equivalent experience in industry
  • Experience selling business to business
  • Experience in the petroleum industry or related industry is preferred
  • The fleet management industry is rapidly changing, thus candidates must be comfortable with a fast paced, opportunity filled work environment
  • Able to utilize latitude given within job parameters to make independent decisions
  • Verifiable work history and previous success building and maintaining relationships

  • Proven experience identifying problems of varying complexities and finding effective solutions with few guidelines.

  • Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude in all internal and external customer interactions.

  • Self-driven and motivated individual with excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Display proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
Working Environment: The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment.
