JOB SUMMARY:

The Anatomy Laboratory Technician supports the teaching and research missions of the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (PCVM) by providing technical expertise, logistical support, and operational management for the anatomy laboratory facilities under the guidance of the Anatomy Faculty. This position ensures that laboratory spaces, equipment, and specimens are prepared, maintained, and managed in a safe, efficient, and educationally optimal manner. Performs other duties as assigned.


JOB DUTIES:

60% - Essential - Laboratory operations and support: Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of anatomy teaching and preparation facilities, including embalming, plastination, and storage areas. Prepare, set up, assist during, and tear down after laboratory sessions and practical examinations. Assist faculty in preparing and maintaining anatomic specimens, including embalming, dissection, plastination, and other specialized preparation techniques. Ensure proper storage, labeling, and tracking of specimens, including those managed under the willed body donation program. Transport willed body donations in accordance with university policies, using university vehicles. Liaise with inventory manager to maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and equipment; restock as needed. Implement and monitor procedures for biosafety, chemical hygiene, and work with compliance coordinator on institutional safety regulations.



30% - Essential - Instructional and academic support: Provide technical support for faculty, staff, and students during laboratory sessions. Assist with setup and administration of formative and summative assessments in laboratory settings. Support faculty and students in the use of laboratory equipment (e.g., imaging stations, microscopes, audiovisual systems). Provides training to users of the anatomy laboratory on procedures, equipment uses, and compliance with rules and regulations related to this space.



10% - Essential - Research and special projects: Contribute technical support for faculty-led veterinary and educational research projects in the anatomy laboratory. Participate in ongoing development of specimen preparation methods and educational resources. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the CVM's academic mission.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - An Associate degree or equivalent technical training in electronics technology, biology or the natural sciences and work experience in a laboratory environment; or a high school diploma and journey-level work experience in a laboratory environment.


License - Valid South Carolina Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000 or ability to obtain upon start of employment




PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, veterinary technology, or related field preferred.


Work Experience - One year or more of experience working in an anatomy, biomedical, or veterinary laboratory environment preferred. Experience in an academic setting is highly desirable.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range ($ 33,339.00 - $ 45,000.00)



Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
