The Freight Systems Section (FSS), part of California Air Resources Board's (CARB) Transportation and Toxics Division, has an immediate opening for an Air Pollution Specialist (APS) to assist with efforts to reduce emissions from California's freight network. FSS is focused on supporting California's freight initiatives, including identifying and developing opportunities for accelerating the adoption of cleaner technologies and increasing the use of zero emission technologies, specifically in the rail industry. The APS will play a key role in the ongoing development and implementation of CARB's freight initiatives and emission reduction programs. Under close supervision (Range A) or supervision (Range B/C) from an Air Resources Supervisor I, the APS will work with a team in the creation of programs that will accelerate the use of cleaner freight equipment; provide scientific knowledge on the deployment of zero and near-zero emission technologies at seaports, railyards and other large freight facilities; provide guidance on the development of compliance tracking mechanisms; and provide input and technical knowledge related to the deployment of zero emission vehicles and equipment.
