Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Afterschool Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred. Prior experience working with children in a classroom, childcare, camp, or afterschool program setting. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Completion of required state trainings and background checks.

Skills & Competencies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues. Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment. Creative and flexible in planning activities that support academic and social development. Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team. Basic knowledge of child development and positive behavior guidance strategies.

Responsibilities

Supervise and ensure the safety of children during afterschool hours. Implement daily activities such as homework help, enrichment projects, games, and crafts. Promote positive interactions and model respectful behavior. Communicate with parents and staff regarding student progress, concerns, or incidents. Maintain a clean and organized classroom space. Follow all licensing regulations, program policies, and emergency procedures.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and actively engage with children indoors and outdoors. Stand, walk, or sit on the floor for extended periods.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week
