Job Overview


We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Compliance Manager to lead our organization's compliance initiatives across multiple property portfolios. This pivotal role involves ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including Fair Housing laws, Section 8 programs, and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) requirements. The Compliance Manager will oversee the implementation of policies and procedures that promote ethical standards, legal adherence, and operational excellence. This energetic professional will serve as a key resource for property management teams, providing guidance on legal administrative processes, lease compliance, and regulatory updates to foster a compliant and customer-focused environment.

Duties



Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive compliance programs aligned with Fair Housing regulations, Landlord-Tenant laws, Section 8 guidelines, LIHTC requirements, and other relevant legal standards. Conduct regular audits of property operations to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, legal statutes, and internal policies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving real estate laws, including legal administrative procedures and facilities management regulations. Oversee the review and approval of lease agreements, contracts, and related documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance. Provide training sessions for property management staff on compliance topics such as Fair Housing regulations, conflict management, tenant rights, and legal procedures. Manage data entry tasks related to compliance tracking systems like Yardi or OneSite; ensure accurate filing of all regulatory documentation. Collaborate with property leasing teams to uphold ethical sales practices while promoting upselling opportunities within regulatory boundaries. Address tenant concerns related to compliance issues with professionalism and effective conflict resolution strategies. Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure facilities management practices meet safety standards and legal requirements. Prepare detailed reports on compliance status for senior leadership; assist in developing corrective action plans when necessary. Serve as the primary contact for external auditors or regulatory agencies during inspections or investigations. Foster a culture of transparency by maintaining clear communication channels regarding compliance policies across all departments.

Experience



Proven experience in property management or real estate administrative roles with a strong understanding of landlord-tenant law and Fair Housing regulations. Prior experience working with LIHTC programs, Section 8 housing vouchers, or similar affordable housing initiatives is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of Yardi, OneSite or comparable property management software systems for data entry and reporting purposes. Strong background in legal administrative processes related to contracts, leasing documentation, filing systems (physical and electronic), and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Excellent conflict management skills combined with effective negotiation abilities to resolve tenant or vendor issues amicably. Exceptional customer service orientation with experience handling sensitive situations professionally via phone etiquette and interpersonal communication skills. Office experience involving data entry, filing systems, customer relationship management tools, and facilities management procedures is essential. Ability to interpret complex regulations accurately while maintaining attention to detail in documentation processes.
