Job Description

Overview:

The Surgical Services Advanced Practice RN (APRN) works collaboratively with division leadership team to implement evidence-based practice throughout the division that complies with current regulatory, accrediting, and professional standards. The APRN develops, implements, and evaluates a division preceptor recruitment and retention program and supports competency assessment and policy development throughout the division by providing literature review and summary of recommendations for best practice to division leaders. Represents the division on hospital-wide committees and project teams as needed.

Responsibilities:

Evidence-based Practice

Supports evidence based practice and policy development by conducting literature review and summary with recommendations Supports evidence based practice by providing education and competency development, assessment and documentation Leads project teams charged with implementing evidence-based practice

Collaboration

Represents the Surgical Services Division on assigned house-wide committees Collaborates with division leaders to support policy and procedure development, education on new policies and procedures, and competency development and assessment as needed Leads change efforts associated with evidence-based practice

Quality of Care

Collaborates with leaders to design safe clinical systems and processes, policies and procedures that are compliant with current evidence and professional, regulatory and accrediting standards Participates in performance improvement initiatives including committees, data collection and analysis, and uses PI tools such as PDSA, A3, Risk Assessment, variance reporting and follow up
Qualifications:
Master's degree in nursing, BSN with masters in health administration or business Five or more years of perioperative experience One or more years of preceptor experience Experience with performance improvement tools and processes * Knowledgeable about perioperative patient care
