The Assistant Program Director works directly under the Founder and Co-Founder to support the daily operations, staff supervision, and behavioral oversight of Ascend Transition Services (ATS). This role helps ensure that all Adult Day Training (ADT), Life Skills Development (LSD 3 & 4), and community inclusion programs run efficiently, remain compliant with APD and Medicaid standards, and provide a safe, structured, and meaningful environment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD/DD), including those with
moderate to severe behavioral needs
.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Operations & Oversight
Coordinate and oversee day-to-day ADT operations, classroom schedules, and staff ratios (1:3, 1:5, 1:10).
Support instructors in implementing structured activities that promote life skills, independence, and inclusion.
Manage attendance, transportation, and community outings using Brightwheel and Therap.
Ensure full compliance with APD iBudget Waiver, Qlarant, and Medicaid documentation standards.
Assist with transition and setup of the new Cape Coral facility (opening December 2025).
2. Behavioral Support & Safety
Provide guidance and intervention strategies for clients exhibiting moderate to severe behaviors.
Collaborate with the BCBA and Program Director on behavior support implementation and staff training.
Lead crisis de-escalation, incident reporting, and follow-up documentation.
Promote a trauma-informed and person-centered approach to all behavioral interventions.
3. Staff Supervision & Training
Supervise instructors, direct support professionals, and volunteers.
Train and coach staff in behavior management, documentation, and compliance.
Monitor daily logs, Q-logs, incident reports, and Therap notes for accuracy and timeliness.
Foster teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
4. Client & Family Communication
Serve as a point of contact for families, guardians, and WSCs regarding program updates or client progress.
Support new client orientations and transitions.
Maintain professional communication and confidentiality at all times.
5. Compliance & Administrative Duties
Ensure Therap data integrity and timely documentation for all services.
Support audits, staff credential tracking, and site readiness for Qlarant reviews.
Assist with monthly and quarterly reports, and cover Program Director duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree (AA)
in Education, Psychology, Human Services, or related field (Bachelor's favored).*
Minimum 3 years
of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with moderate to severe behaviors
in ADT, group home, or school settings.
Proficient reading, writing, and google / microsoft tools.
Current
Level 2 Background Screening
and
CPR/First Aid certification
required.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's Human Services, Education, or ABA.
Prior supervisory or program management experience.
Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) preferred.
