Become a Library Assistant V (Lead Clerk) in Borrower Services at Denver Public Library\xe2\x80\x99s Central Library! This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in delivering Denver Public Library\xe2\x80\x99s values of Connection, Curiosity, Equity, Stewardship and Welcoming to downtown dwellers and commuters. As a team lead in Borrower Services, you will serve on the front lines as the face of library circulation as well as behind the scenes as the hub for materials processing for the entire library system.

Situated in the Golden Triangle Creative District at the heart of Denver\xe2\x80\x99s Civic Center, the Central Library is a busy and active community center celebrating curiosity, innovation, education, and empowerment for the surrounding neighborhoods. Currently undergoing a major renovation, the Central Library offers a chance to experience the exciting pace of a large urban library with many opportunities to explore and grow.

About the job:
You\xe2\x80\x99ll be spending much of your time at customer-facing service points, interacting with a diverse population using a trauma-informed lens and creating a welcoming library space where all are free to explore and connect. You\xe2\x80\x99ll create positive experiences for library customers and for your team by modeling excellent customer service, serving as an expert on circulation policy and procedure, tackling customer escalations, and helping improve system wide processes.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll use library technology and other mechanical tools to efficiently process and route library materials with accuracy and attention to detail while working on continuous process improvement, especially those relating to circulation. You will act as a liaison to other departments and support a workgroup of other Leads across the organization.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll grow as you support the library\'s goal of being a learning organization by developing and implementing circulation-focused training. By communicating effectively about issues and initiatives with customers, staff and Administration, you\xe2\x80\x99ll help recognize your colleagues\xe2\x80\x99 strengths and contributions and foster relationships with colleagues throughout DPL.

We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum qualifications will be considered:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years of leadership experience within a team or work group (can be non-supervisory).

  • Three years of customer service experience that included working on a computer.

  • A track record of personal advancement or increasing skill development within previous roles.

  • A second language fluency is a definite plus!

Other Things You Should Know:

The Central Library is located in a busy metropolitan area and there is no free parking available. Employees are eligible for the City of Denver\xe2\x80\x99s EcoPass for free and easy access to public transportation.

The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include evening and weekend hours. Current working hours are Sundays through Thursdays, but are subject to change as library hours expand.

This position could be reassigned temporarily or permanently to another branch or location based on system wide staffing needs.
