Overview

The Human Services Board is currently seeking a part-time/temporary Administrative Services Technician to provide administrative support to our team located in Montpelier, VT. The Human Services Board receives, schedules and hears appeals from certain programs within the Agency of Human Services. This position was created on a temporary basis to address an anticipated increase in appeals due to the end of the Covid public health emergency.

The Administrative Services Technician will mainly provide higher level clerical support - including appeal intake, editing memoranda and recommended orders, drafting form letters and hearing notices, electronic file-keeping, copying, mailing and having phone/email contact with the public/appellants, administrative staff and hearing officers. You will have frequent contact with members of the public, board members, and attorneys.

Ideal candidates for this position will have some experience working in a law office or similar environment and strong editing and proofreading skills. You should also be a strong communicator, both over the phone and in writing. Good computer skills and familiarity with MS Outlook email and calendaring, as well as a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, are required. You\'ll work under the direction of our Legal Hearing & Support Specialist and Admin Services Technician III, and work closely with other staff as well.

This position is on-site with some limited potential for partial remote work.

This position, Administrative Services Technician II - Temporary (Job Requisition #47276), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year or more of office clerical experience.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND completion of a vocational/technical training program in business, office administration, financial support or related area.

OR

One (1) year or more of full-time college level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Technician I with the State of Vermont.
