The Department of Computer Science in the School of Engineering at The University of New Mexico is seeking a highly motivated, reliable, dependable, and personable individual with excellent customer service skills to join our dynamic team as an Administrative Assistant 2.
Computer Science is a highly research-active academic department, and we are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong attention to detail, and enjoys assisting others. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, reliable, and resourceful, with a commitment to supporting faculty, staff, students, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
This position requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, a strong sense of organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth day-to-day operations of the department by providing administrative support, coordinating office activities, assisting with events, and serving as a primary point of contact for visitors and inquiries.

Conditions of Employment
If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience preparing a range of administrative documents such as timekeeping, scheduling, purchasing, and shipping/receiving.
Experience supporting administration such as answering the main phone line, making copies and scanning as needed, and sorting mail/packages.
Ability to multi-task, i.e. assist faculty, staff and students in various tasks or answer inquiries, sometimes simultaneously.
Employee time entry experience.
Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of circumstances to arrive at a common understanding.
Ability to maintain confidential information (FERPA, HR).
