Job Description

Millers Landing Senior Living, an 80-unit assisted living and memory care community in the beautiful Stone Arch Bridge area of downtown Minneapolis, MN, is now hiring an Activities Assistant.

Qualified individuals enjoy working with older adults and possess the ability to multitask and manage their time well, all while demonstrating highest-quality customer service centered around the mission of providing proactive, compassionate care in an engaging community.

Primary Purpose:



Develop, coordinate, and implement resident activities at Millers Landing Senior Living. Encourage community participation by residents in activities providing physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual development with an opportunity to use individual talents and skills.

Qualifications:



High School diploma with some college or related training preferred. Prior experience in planning and implementing activities and events. Experience in working with senior adults; knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs and concerns of the senior population. MN Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement

Other Specialized Knowledge and Abilities:



This position requires incumbent to have:

Excellent written and verbal English language skills. Ability to operate computer and software. Excellent listening and response skills in communicating with the resident community. Discretion in retaining confidential information with Miller Landing Senior Living and between staff and residents. The mind-set of a caregiver with a friendly and positive demeanor towards residents.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:



Plan/develop/coordinate/implement resident activities. Plan, coordinate, and implement activities, events, trips and celebrations. Engage residents to participate in all planned activities. Encourage residents to utilize opportunities to demonstrate their talents and skills within the structure of the programmed activities. Organize residents to plan and assist with scheduled events. Prepare surveys and encourage response by residents concerning activities and interests of the resident community. Plan and implement programs to celebrate nationally recognized holidays and other special days. Communicate and cooperate with Manager, food service and pastoral care staff in planning activities. Drive the bus/van weekly to resident doctor/dentist appointments, food stores, pharmacy, and to planned outings for residents.

Administrative and Other Assignments.



Prepare monthly activity calendar and keep residents informed. Write and edit a monthly newsletter. Schedule and coordinate transportation needs for visits to food stores, pharmacy, bank, and medical appointments for residents. Drive the facility van/bus with direction from management. Review and manage the annual activities budget. Assist other staff members on occasion as needed. Assist with answering the telephones and emergency call systems. May perform other duties as assigned or requested by the (fill in title of person)*.

Share responsibilities in all aspects of renting apartments.



Establish and maintain good working relationships with the surrounding community, social service and county agencies. Give occasional tours and information to perspective residents. Assist with marketing events, open houses and expo's.
Pay: $23.00 per hour
