Job Description

Responsibilities: The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing a team of four professional accountants and team members. Under the supervision of the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager serves as a consultant for managers within the organization. Qualifications: Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of department staff by supervising the accounting procedures of the company.
• Manage, develop, and coach a team of four professional accountants and team members.
• Coordinate the development of key performance goals for functions.
• Administer balance sheet account reconciliations of accounts receivable and revenue across multiple companies and various accounts
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and financial reports for individual companies on a consolidated basis
• Prepare monthly journal entries for revenue and ensure proper revenue recognition.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly and year-end close
• Serve as primary contact for corporate office (Harrisburg, PA) accounting, actuarial and tax departments (travel infrequently as needed)
• Collaborate with various departments to support overall Accounting department to obtain corporate goals.
• Coordinate financial audits (CPA firm and regulatory).
• Prepare regulatory financial filings
• Assist in annual budget preparation
• Analyze and implement new accounting policy and procedures
• Participate in operational meetings and new business implementation
• Other special projects or duties as assigned

• Ability and track record of creating environment of efficiencies, particularly leveraging systems capabilities to eliminate/reduce manual tasks and processes.
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment and meet all deadlines.
  • Skills to have: organizational skills, detail-oriented, good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). CPA preferred.
• Experience working with multiple companies and consolidation
• Knowledge of Statutory Accounting Practices within insurance industry preferred.
• Aptitude for systems including advanced Excel skills.

Experience:

• The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for an individual to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
• Minimum of 5 years in a public accounting and/or corporate accounting environment including general ledger, financial statements, accounts payable and receivable, budgets, and audits
• Previous senior/managerial experience required.
• Healthcare financial management experience is a plus.
• Comfortable working in an open team environment.
  

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Accounting or other Business related study

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, smart phones, photocopiers/scanners, shredders and filing cabinets.
