The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority ("SFRTA") is currently seeking to fill the position of an Accounting Clerk in the Department of Finance. This position performs duties such as matching, batching, preparing invoices for payment, to ensure that the Agency\'s expenses are being processed and paid in a timely manner, and performs routine bookkeeping operations (posting and balancing records) along with office and clerical work.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive and date stamp Approval Forms, match them with the corresponding invoices to ensure that payment can be processed in a timely manner.

Input invoices and account for all the expenses in preparation for the payments to be processed.

Route and track invoices to obtain the proper signature approvals.

Review the SFRTA\'s monthly Board financial statements and related reports.

Review invoices for accuracy and completeness.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.

Process checks for payment of approved invoices, distribute checks to ensure payments.

Update spreadsheets on a regular basis.

Sort and file correspondences, reports, and other forms, and withdraw files upon request.

File, send and sort faxes, make photocopies and other clerical duties as requested.

Maintain accurate files.

Disburse checks and enter them in the database.

Assist in preparing Board Agenda items as necessary.

Adhere to the rules, regulations, and policies of SFRTA including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti- Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Experience

Two (2) years of accounting experience.

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be substituted.

Training
  • On-the-job training in bookkeeping software and computer spreadsheets.
Computer

This position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment.

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority conducts a background check on all applicants who accept an offer of employment. Applicants who receive an offer of employment must complete a background check authorization form and return it to the Human Resources department signed and dated. It is the policy of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority that all new employees and all present employees transferred or promoted to a new job should be evaluated for an initial Introductory Period. The Introductory Period is a minimum of six (6) months. After satisfactory completion of the Introductory Period, employees are evaluated as provided for in the Performance Appraisal Policy and become regular status employees.

Employees in a position that requires certification after the hire date must fulfill that requirement within the allowed timeframe. Employees unable to meet certification requirements may be terminated.
