Summary:




The Machines Team Lead oversees daily operations for the recycling machine area, ensuring equipment runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards. This role provides hands-on leadership to machine operators, coordinates workflow, troubleshoots machine issues, and works closely with maintenance and production teams to meet daily production goals.




Key Responsibilities:




Leadership & Workflow Coordination


Lead and support a team of machine operators across designated shifts. Assign daily tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule. Train new operators on machine operation, safety practices, and workflow expectations. Serve as the point of contact between operators and management.





Machine Operation & Quality Control


Oversee the setup, operation, and shut-down of machinery. Monitor machine performance to ensure efficient operation and product quality. Conduct routine inspections and escalate mechanical concerns to maintenance promptly. Ensure waste materials are processed correctly according to company standards.





Safety & Compliance


Enforce all safety guidelines and policies to maintain a hazard-free work environment. Conduct safety checks and ensure proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout procedures. Assist with incident reports and follow corrective action procedures when needed.





Documentation & Reporting


Maintain logs for production output, machine downtime, and quality control checks. Provide feedback and performance input for team members. Communicate operational updates and improvement suggestions to management.





Continuous Improvement


Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime. Support cross-training efforts to build team capability and flexibility. Help develop standardized procedures for machine operation and troubleshooting.





Qualifications




Required


2+ years of experience operating industrial or recycling machinery. Previous leadership or lead operator experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a production environment.





Preferred


Experience in recycling, manufacturing, or material recovery facilities. Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles. OSHA safety training or certification.
