Overview:


The PGA of America is moving to Frisco, Texas \xe2\x80\x93 the "2018 Best Place to Live in America\xe2\x80\x9d - where it will anchor a 600-acre, mixed-use, golf-centric development, including the golf club, future Omni resort and PGA headquarters. Currently under construction, the golf club will feature two championship golf courses, a 10-hole short course, a two-acre putting course and a 37-acre practice facility. The future two-story clubhouse will offer golfers and guests alike a 19th hole restaurant, private dining on the second floor overlooking the fairways, upscale lounges and locker rooms and a golf shop designed to entice all levels of fans from PGA tournament players to weekend golfers and other enthusiasts. : He or she is under the direct supervision of the First Assistant Superintendent. The Second Superintendent is a key position within the Golf Course Maintenance operations of the East golf course. The primary role of the candidate is to assist in managing the daily operations within the East golf course. This individual also works directly with the First Assistant Superintendent in the development, execution of chemical and fertility plans and is responsible in overseeing all record keeping of aforementioned. This individual must always have a keen eye for detail and be able to assist the First Assistant Superintendent in keeping the golf course detailed and well-groomed for daily play and for the numerous events and tournaments throughout the year. Assists and at times directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways and cart paths. Responsible for the daily activities of the golf course maintenance staff, including supervision and training of staff to perform all the tasks associated with maintaining the golf course, including but not limited to scheduling and filling in for absent staff. Responsibilities:

  • Trains, motivates and supervises staff capable of performing the tasks associated with maintaining the golf course.
  • Assists in planning, scheduling and monitoring the daily operations, including responsibility for assisting in coordinating and assigning work.
  • Reviews golf course on a daily basis and gives feedback to both GCS and the First Assistant Superintendent to ensure agronomic, maintenance standards and departmental goals are met.
  • Assist First Superintendent in documentation and filing daily records for each team member\xe2\x80\x99s assignments. This should be done daily with job task and completion time.
  • Works directly with AIT\xe2\x80\x99s in monitoring golf course playing conditions primarily related to our intense moisture management programs. Follows up and checks random areas on the course to ensure proper management techniques and guidelines are being followed.
  • Works and builds relationships with interns. Will work closely with First Superintendent on specific plans and strategies to ensure interns success.
  • Ensure team members are properly using, cleaning and greasing of equipment in the morning/afternoon. Make sure all assigned small equipment is returned to the small equipment room and signed back in.
  • Ensures that proper logging of information and data for all of the department\xe2\x80\x99s record keeping is accurate such as rainfall, daily weather conditions, moisture management and any additional information pertaining to our intense agronomic program and needs.
  • Discuss daily schedules, programs and concerns with the leadership with attention to efficient management and quality control in mind. Assure that all issues and concerns are brought to the leadership as quickly as possible in order to lessen potential negative impact.
  • Responsible for daily observations of the golf course pertaining to our intense maintenance programs. Assists with adjusting and modifying programs.
  • Assisting with training of staff along with staff safety is the number one priority.
  • Maintain pesticide license and continual education in the field of concern or related
  • Ensures organization of the GCM facility, equipment and grounds.
Qualifications: Two- or four-year certificate from a college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Texas State License as pesticide applicator. The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. The ability to apply calibration of pesticide and fertilizer. The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. The ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License. Valid Texas Pesticide Applicator License.
