How does this position make an impact on the community?

The Youth Services program helps children who have experienced trauma, providing support they need through our after-school and summer programs and support groups.

The ideal candidate:

Is passionate about the mission of the YWCA and:

Has one year experience working with domestic violence and/or sexual assault preferred. Has a love for children and compassion for their welfare. Is dedicated to providing inclusive, trauma-informed, and anti-racist programming for youth. Has an understanding of domestic and sexual violence issues, particularly in relation to the effects on children. Has knowledge of group facilitation techniques and small group work with an emphasis on special needs children and children in crisis Has the ability to maintain confidential information. Has good work habits, including punctuality and ability to organize and manage time and information. Has consistent availability on weekends High school diploma or Equivalency Diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred

Some of what you'll do in this position:



Nurture, guide, play with and mentor children in the shelter, groups and family services, kindly attending to their bodies, minds, and spirits. Provide appropriate activity and interaction for children in the shelter, groups and family services. Facilitate resolution with crisis that may arise during the shift. Work with mothers in the shelter to help them with parenting skills. Maintain written client files. Exposure to difficult situations and emotionally taxing client circumstances, including physical aggression may be encountered. Acts as a positive role model for children's and parents.

What else you should know: This position is part-time, 20 hours per week. Working hours fall between Saturday 2-6pm, Sunday 4-8pm, Monday 12-8pm, Tuesday 12-4pm. The base wage for this position starts at $19.63 hourly - higher wages would be based on experience calculated using YWCA Missoula's wage matrix.
