Youth & Teen Caregiver/Mentor

We are looking for caring, compassionate and active mentors to provide supportive living to school-aged to young adults, in foster care, in their daily routines and building life skills. You could be the one to assist them have an experience every youth and teen should experience; Bentleyville with people who care for them, splash at the water tables at the aquarium, learn how to skip rocks or agate hunt along the shores of Lake Superior.

We are a foster care organization with five (5) homes in Duluth's Lakeside neighborhoods. We strive to provide safe homes for the individuals we serve for one year or until they age out of child foster care. Our homes are staffed 24/7, including holidays. Our staff work as a team to provide person-centered care to all individuals in the home, at a 2:1 ratio. Today, we are hiring for a home with school aged kids, 1 boy and 3 girls. The girls are middle school and young high school and into looking their best and causing drama while our young boy like to rumble and tumble while being a kid. Be a part of their young lives and apply with us today!

Responsibilities:

Assist with household tasks including cooking, cleaning, snow removal, maintain a grocery list.

Assist with educational activities and homework help.

Teach life skills such as conflict management, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Assist individual learn and practice stress coping skills and de-escalation techniques.

Transport and accompany individuals to doctor appointments and/or community outings.

Provide an inclusive, structured home for individuals to feel safe in

Administer prescribed medications.

Assist individuals with personal care.

Log individual's daily activities and goal succession.

Advocate for the rights and needs of the youth.

Provide companionship and basic emotional support.

Skills:

De-escalation practices.

Small group management.

Strong self-initiating skills.

Ability to work with vulnerable individuals.

Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills.

Ability to educate and mentor youth effectively.

Knowledge of behavioral health principles and techniques.

Requirements:

First Aid Training, ability to obtain upon employment.

Valid Driver's License.

Clear a Criminal Background Check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 12 per week
