Description of Work We are currently recruiting for a Youth Program Education Assistant II at Whitaker PRTF in Butner. This position provides residential care, supervision and educational services for residents with complex behavioral, emotional, psychological and neurological disorders. It also provides community liaison support services for residents and families with a staffing complement of approximately 70 full-time clinical, educational, residential and support positions.

Salary Range: $39,864.00 - $59,797.00
*A Sign-on bonus of $3,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Ability to establish rapport and respect without undue resort to physical control and authoritative attitude.
Conditional Requirements: Physical ability to manage disruptive youth without harm to residents or staff. ADA physical requirements will be discussed in detail during the interview process. Employee must be able to obtain certification in NVCI/APT, and recertification as required, CPR with recertification annually, and Fire Safety Training annually.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package. The normal work hours are 1st shift, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., including rotating weekends and holidays as scheduled. This position is deemed mandatory during adverse weather conditions, which will be discussed in detail during the interview process.
Any hours worked over 40 in a work week are paid out at time and a half. Hours worked on the weekend receive an additional 5% shift premium pay per hour and any hours worked on a night, or evening shift receive an additional 10% shift premium pay per hour.

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

About the Facility:
Whitaker PRTF, located in Butner, NC is a secure, non-acute treatment program for males and females ages 13-17. Whitaker's mission is to provide comprehensive, evidenced-based services to North Carolina youth, who have emotional and behavioral challenges and need secure residential care. The vision of Whitaker PRTF is to be a model facility using evidenced-based interventions, education and community interactions to provide quality clinical and behavioral care in the safest environment. Our goal is to coordinate with community based resources so that the youth can return to successful, productive lives in their home communities. Whitaker PRTF seeks to build a network of services to meet each resident's needs and work to build on the strengths of the youth in our care to create positive relationships among peers. We also work to meet the needs and expectations of the family, school and community. Our residents receive individualized treatment to increase their academic, social and behavioral competencies so they can be successful in less restrictive environments.

Veteran's and National Guard Preference

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate's Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience;
or
High school or General Educational Development diploma and four years of directly related work experience;

Necessary Special Qualifications As required by facility, CPR certification and listing as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation required prior to providing direct patient care.
