The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking a committed and motivated Youth Facility Assistant Directorto join our leadership team at the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting the daily operations of a secure care facility and ensuring that youth receive rehabilitative services in a safe, structured environment. As Assistant Director, you will work closely with the Facility Director to guide staff, oversee programs, and advance our mission of accountability, growth, and community safety.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in juvenile probation and parole, social services, counseling, or in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting; OR



A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in juvenile probation and parole, social services, counseling, or in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting; OR



A master's degree in criminal justice or a social sciences field, counseling, education, public administration, or business administration plus two years of experience in juvenile probation and parole, social services, counseling, or in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting; OR



A doctorate degree in a criminal justice field, counseling, social science field, education, public administration, or business administration plus one year of experience in juvenile probation and parole, social services, counseling, or in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting.



EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

Assist the Facility Director in managing overall operations, staffing, and program delivery. Provide leadership and supervision to facility staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and care. Ensure compliance with agency policies, PREA standards, and state/federal regulations. Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and daily facility functions to maintain safety and efficiency. Support the development and implementation of rehabilitative programs that promote positive youth outcomes. Serve as a liaison between the facility, central office, and external stakeholders. Respond to emergencies and critical incidents with sound judgment and adherence to established protocols.
