Job Summary



The YWCA is reigniting our Activity Center and expanding fitness and wellness offerings for adults and seniors. We're looking for certified, mission-driven group

yoga instructors

who know how to build strength, mobility, and community at the same time.

Key Responsibilities



Lead

gentle, chair, restorative, and/or flow-based yoga classes

for adults and seniors (30-60 minutes) Arrive

15 minutes early

to prepare the room and welcome participants; start/finish classes on time Create and facilitate

safe, trauma-aware sequences

with accessible modifications Demonstrate proper alignment and breathing techniques, offering hands-off assists unless consented Maintain a

clean, peaceful studio environment

, sanitize equipment, and reset space post-class Track attendance and help build class participation and retention Engage members pre- and post-class to support belonging and confidence Support class promotion -- at least 2 engagement actions/month (social post/story, flyers, tabling, member outreach) Participate in wellness events and seasonal launch days Model and uphold a culture of dignity, equity, and mindful movement aligned with YWCA values

Essential Experience



Minimum 1 year teaching yoga classes in a community, studio, or wellness setting Experience teaching older adults, beginners, larger bodies, and individuals with mobility differences Strong understanding of breathwork, functional movement, mindfulness, and restorative practices Knowledge of trauma-informed and accessible yoga approaches Warm communication style and excellent interpersonal skills

Licensing and/or Certifications:



200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification (RYT 200) from a recognized program required CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days) Chair Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Accessible Yoga, or Yoga for Seniors certification preferred Experience with meditation or breathwork instruction a plus

Ability to demonstrate exercises safely and assist participants as needed. Must be able to lift 15 lbs when moving mats/props. Ability to teach, demo poses, and support safe movement.

Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses. Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Exposure to heated/air conditioned and ventilated facilities. Function in a workplace that is usually moderately noisy but that can be very noisy at times.

Monday

through

Friday

7:45 AM -- 12:00 PM,

with some evenings/weekends for special classes

Compensation:

$30-$40 (hourly rate)
