Lead Infant Teacher at the YMCA Jewett Child Development Center
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Toddler Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. This role involves educating preschool-aged children, implementing developmentally appropriate curricula, and promoting social, emotional, and cognitive growth through engaging activities.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards.
Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
Educate children on various subjects including basic literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and development.
Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective classroom management techniques.
Provide individualized attention to students as needed, including those requiring early intervention strategies.
Conduct standardized testing as required to assess student progress.
Collaborate with other educators and staff to enhance the educational experience.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in childhood development.
Qualifications
Education requirements: HS Diploma, Initial certificate (12 credits), Short certificate (20 credits) or equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age or older and at least 1 year experience as a lead teacher.
Experience working in child care settings or private schools is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of childhood development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
Familiarity with strategies for supporting diverse learning needs.
Ability to manage a classroom effectively while fostering a positive learning environment.
Certification required in CPR and First Aid, Food handlers, Child Care basics, and Blood borne pathogens.
Required: TB Test and Fingerprint background check through Merit
