Position Summary Performs day to day yard operations of shippings, receiving, customer loading, and inventory control. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Works with Watkins dispatcher and sales counter to process block sales orders for walk in customers and load block on customers\' vehicles. Process warehouse sales orders for walk in customers and load block on customers\' vehicles. Works with Watkins dispatcher and sales counter to prepare orders of block to be loaded onto Watkins trucks or vehicles of affiliated companies for delivery to contractors or dealers. Works with Watkins dispatcher and sales counter to load bulk aggregates for FOB customers\' vehicles and the Watkins dump trucks with the front-end loader. Unloads incoming freight and inspects merchandise for shortages or damages and matches PO numbers with orders and process attached paperwork. Stock freight in the warehouse or block yard if new inventory. Ship to proper destination if necessary. Keeps inventory stocked in designated areas to facilitate accurate and efficient inventory count and allow for storage of daily production. Maintain the block yard in a clean and orderly manner. Assure SDS forms are maintained and up to date for accurate information and immediate review. Other duties may be assigned. Job Requirements and Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Previous experience in a construction &/or construction products related field is desired.
  • Must have previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment-forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck and a front-end loader.
  • Forklift certification preferred. If no, must be capable of completing requirements of the program and passing the test within an established period of time.
  • Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe yard and warehouse environment.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.

Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; squat, bend, push, pull, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds to waist height. Must be able to climb on and off, in and out of the loader or lift truck as often as required to fill orders placed by walk in customers or orders for delivery. Must have agility to maintain balance on block piles or Watkins trucks and customer vehicles while filling orders. Must lift, place and set block or warehouse products on a repetitive basis during loading and unloading process. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, may be extreme hot or cold. Work in a minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily. May be required to work in any of the environments listed for a temporary job assignment. Must wear any protective devices as required by the company safety policies relating to the assignment being performed. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This is a tobacco free campus. Condition of Employment Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment.
