Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:



Oversee and manage the Delaware Yard's operational activities regarding ferrous, non-ferrous and non-metallic scrap purchases, sales, processing, inventory, transportation, employees, equipment, office administration, cash handling, housekeeping, and security.

Manage employees, including hiring, termination, discipline, and PTO in accordance with the employee handbook along with assistance from Human Resources.

Enforce and promote a strong safety, PPE and housekeeping program to prevent accidents and injuries for all employees and customers.

Oversee all equipment including repairs, maintenance, daily pre-and-post checks, PM's, annuals, and all safety features.

Regular communication with Maintenance on the reporting of equipment issues.

Focus on training and equipment upkeep to reduce damage and repair costs.

Supervise, train, monitor, motivate, and develop the performance of employees.

Strong knowledge of material, grades, market pricing, volumes, margins and spreads within the industry to maximize profitability.

Continuous and accurate tracking, upgrading, sorting, organization and reporting of inventory in order to ship material as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Maintain and service current customers with fairness, honesty and respect while continuously working to develop new customers.

Travel to customer locations for service, pick-ups, deliveries, meetings, etc.

Comply with and enforce all company policies and procedures.

Comply with and enforce all environmental, safety and industry related regulations, laws and policies.

Travel to Main Office (Marion) weekly for Management and Transportation meetings.

Perform all other duties and responsibilities as directed and assigned.

Experience and Requirements:



Minimum High School Diploma, University Degree preferred In-depth knowledge of ferrous, non-ferrous and non-metallic materials Prior supervisory experience in a scrap metal environment Familiarity with OSHA, OEPA, and SPA requirements and industry specific safety protocols

Physical Demands:



Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 30 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work.

Must be able to move about inside and outside the office.

Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, and printer.

Must be able to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office, yard and warehouse.

Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10-30 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-70 pounds.

Must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and make adjustments as necessary

Must have a valid Driver's License

Ability to operate heavy machinery is a plus

CDL A license is a plus

Work Environment:



While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to high. The individual works in both a controlled climate and outdoor elements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
