Overview: The Y serves thousands of families a year by providing safe, fun, and engaging after-school programs for their children. Substitutes play a key role in creating and maintaining a positive atmosphere that provides homework enrichment, physical activity, healthy snacks, group activities, positive relationships and youth empowerment. Schedules are flexible and include weekday morning and afternoon shifts.
Hourly Rates* Minimum $14.00/hour
increases to rates are case-by-case based on experience and education relevant to to the field of youth development

Responsibilities:
Assists with activities in a welcoming environment.
Consistently supervise children present at site; communicate changes with all other associates.
Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
Consistently demonstrate positive interaction with all children; talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect.
Work in a team environment and provide open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, families or co-workers.
Consistently demonstrate and reinforce the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.
Be prompt and dependable to work when requested, accept subbing requests on a regular basis, and respond to subbing requests in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Minimum age of 16 for Kansas sites.
Minimum age of 18 with high school diploma or equivalent for Missouri sites.
Previous experience working with school age children preferred (may include working as a babysitter, nanny or other childcare program).
Sensitivity to clientele and staff representing a variety of family, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Ability to actively engage with and supervise children requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability.
Ability to work with others in a team environment.
Commitment and desire to provide quality youth development services at all levels.
Physical Demands:
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability.
