Responsibilities
Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety.
Operate X-ray machines and other diagnostic imaging equipment such as PET scans, CT scanners, mammography, DEXA scans, sonography, and nuclear medicine devices with precision and care.
Follow strict aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
Accurately position patients to obtain optimal images while minimizing radiation exposure.
Collaborate with medical teams in emergency rooms, urgent care centers, and Level I or Level II trauma centers to perform diagnostic evaluations swiftly and effectively.
Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, patient information, and imaging results in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operated according to manufacturer guidelines.
Adhere to safety protocols related to radiation protection and infection control standards.
Assist in the interpretation of images when qualified, providing valuable insights for diagnostic radiology assessments.
Stay updated on advancements in medical imaging technology and techniques to enhance service quality.
Requirements
Certification as an X-Ray Technician from an accredited program; licensure or registration as required by local health authorities.
Proven experience with a variety of imaging modalities including X-ray, CT, PET scan, mammography, DEXA scan, ultrasound (sonography), and nuclear medicine procedures.
Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology essential for accurate image acquisition and interpretation support.
Experience working in urgent care settings or emergency rooms is highly desirable; experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus.
Familiarity with diagnostic radiology practices and diagnostic evaluation processes.
Ability to maintain aseptic technique during procedures to prevent infection risks.
Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
Capable of working efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or trauma centers.
Knowledge of safety standards related to radiation exposure and patient confidentiality.
