Job Summary The XR Designer I contributes to the activities of Immersive Design Systems at Boston Children\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital. As part of the Applied Engineering team, collaborates with leaders within the hospital to design, develop and deliver cutting edge visualization tools and simulations for training, therapy, and care delivery. The XR Designer I will be responsible for:

  • Identify user needs and create immersive technology-based solutions for training of nurses and clinical staff. Under direction, produce implementation tools in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and screen-based simulations (SBS).
  • VR media includes 3-D graphics and/or 360 (panoramic) photos and film.SBS refers to a simulation accessed by web browser or tablet/phone device.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to identify user needs and specify design requirements, to inform and guide the selection of technology and tool development.
  • Optimize tools and methods of use for intended system impact.
  • Contribute technical advice and tactical support in the development, trial, and introduction of XR solutions.
  • Generate documentation to support the reproduction and use of new tools.
  • Support maintenance of the hardware and software infrastructure.
To qualify, you must have:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Art, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • One year of experience: mixed reality, augmented reality, virtual reality, digital design, digital media arts, computer UX design
